Allow me to help your child in areas in which he/she struggles. I will identify the specific areas of difficulty and work to fill those gaps.  Not every child learns in the same way, so I can present material in different ways than may be done in the regular classroom.  We can also review for standardized or classroom tests and work on homework. I am available for one-time or occasional help, as well as regular ongoing sessions.

Reading is more than just saying the words on a page.  Reading is understanding the material and is composed of many different skills.  This thorough reading assessment will not only determine your child's reading level, but also give you information about which reading skill(s) - such as summarizing, fluency, phonetic awareness, key details, inferencing, and more -- your child should focus on to make the most gains.  Unlike most school assessments that are computerized, this assessment is one-on-one with your child and me.

Do you have a reluctant reader?  Do you want to ensure that your child is fully comprehending the material read, and not simply saying the words on the page?  I use a fun, interactive, online reading enrichment program that provides passages AT THEIR LEVELS (grades K - 6/7), quizzes them on the material, and then rewards them for their reading.  While they do this on their own time, I am on the other side, monitoring their progress, reviewing their quiz answers and which skills need support, communicating with the parent and child, and adjusting their level when necessary.

As a former STEM teacher (Science, Technology, Engineering Math) in a private school, I have a love for and believe strongly in STEM education and "thinking outside the box."  I can bring enrichment activities to your child to further their critical thinking and creativity.  In addition, if your child isn't challenged enough in the classroom, I can accelerate their learning by working ahead in the curriculum or providing special projects.

Homeschooling your child?  If there is a specific subject or skill in which you need assistance or feel is best taught by a certified teacher, I am happy to help.  I am a direct pay provider if your child has a scholarship through Step Up.  In addition, I am able to perform your child's annual homeschool evaluation that is required by the state of Florida.

It's true. The summer months are great for R&R, but kids do have a harder time when school starts.  It can take weeks to get back into the groove and work to potential.  Avoid this slump!  Ask about flexible summer sessions to keep your child sharp and ready for school!
